Research With Us

This page outlines research pathways in Food Safety Culture at the University of Otago.

We welcome prospective research students and collaborators interested in examining the organisational, behavioural, and systemic dimensions of food safety culture, and contributing to evidence-based improvement across complex food systems.

Pathways for Research in Food Safety Culture

Food safety culture is not built in theory alone. It is shaped in real organisations, by real people, under real constraints.

At the Food Safety Culture Lab, we work alongside industry, regulators, and research partners to investigate how safety systems and human behaviour intersect in practice.

We are seeking postgraduate students who are curious, rigorous, and motivated to contribute to meaningful change.

❋ Our projects include:

  • Applied organisational research

  • Behavioural and cultural analysis

  • Ethnographic and qualitative methods

  • Industry-engaged collaboration

Whether you are interested in leadership, compliance, behavioural science, or organisational learning, we invite you to explore how your research can contribute to safer food systems.

If you are ready to contribute to evidence-based improvement in food safety culture, we would like to hear from you.
